Sherry, spice. Christmas cake, chocolate, cinnamon, kirsch. Dark fruits, sugared fruits. Leathery.
More spice and sweetness now. Sherry evident, dark fruits, chocolate. A little flat though, slightly watery. An odd bitter note. Still, not bad at all.
Quite long. Drying on the tongue, dark fruit and chocolate again. A light coffee thing going on as well. Very warming, good on a winter’s night.
I’m not very big on Macallan in general, but their sherry cask expression are lovely. This one, at 40%, scores slightly lower than the 10 year old sherry cask to my taste, but still this is a very nice dram.
